In the 10 years since our launch in 2012, Red Umbrella Fund has given 279 grants to 180 organisations in 68 countries. Every year we share our list of grants including the names of the grantee-partner organisations that request to be published on our website. Organisations that wish to stay anonymous do not have their name or country publicly available. Please contact us if you would like to contact any of our former-grantees or discuss their work.
In 2022 Red Umbrella Fund’s PAC awarded €1,300,000 – our first time giving more than a million in a single year – bringing total grants to €7,886,500!

Hoa Co May CBO
Hoa Co May CBOVietnam local English Hoa Co May Group works to improve the quality of life of sex workers and people living with HIV+ in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. With this first grant from Red Umbrella Fund, the organisation aims to cover some of its core costs and support sex workers’ access to screening for sexually transmitted infections and treatment as well as access to health insurance.

SCOT-PEP
SCOT-PEPUnited Kingdom National English Founded in 1989, this is the oldest organisation that is led by sex workers in Scotland. It campaigns for sex work to be recognised both socially and legally as work, and for sex workers’ voices to be included in public debates. SCOT-PEP lobbies the Scottish parliament for the decriminalisation of sex work and against the ‘Safer Lives, Changed Lives’ policy strategy which aims to eradicate violence against women and defines sex work as exploitation, irrespective of the opinion of the women involved. Sex Worker Advocacy and Resistance Movement (SWARM)United Kingdom National English This workers’ cooperative aims to strengthen the sex workers’ rights movement through organising community workshops and festivals, networking and collaboration. SWARM advocates for full decriminalisation of sex work through lobbying parliamentarians, amplifying sex workers’ voices in public debates, and speaking out in media. The cooperative actively campaigns against the recent rise in arrests, unlimited detention, and deportation of migrant sex workers in the UK who are being specifically targeted since the Brexit vote. Sex Worker Open University (SWOU)
Sex Worker Open University (SWOU)United Kingdom Local English This collective brings together sex workers of all genders and sexual orientations, and works closely with sex workers who are migrants. SWOU organizes public events such as film festivals and public debates to educate people about stigma and violations of sex workers’ rights, and uses research to challenge people’s stereotypes about the sex work industry.

Strong Ladies
Strong LadiesVietnam Local English This organisation of young trans women sex workers was established in 2013 as a local self-help group. Strong Ladies is the only organisation formed by and for trans women sex workers in Ho Chi Minh City. The group provides HIV prevention information and services to sex workers and collaborates with the Vietnam Network of Sex Workers (VNSW) to promote the human rights of sex workers. The group is expanding their health interventions for transgender sex workers and will provide consultation on sexual health via live-streams. Learn more

Uganda Network of Sex Worker-Led Organisations (UNESO)
Uganda Network of Sex Worker-Led Organisations (UNESO)Uganda National English This network was established in 2015 to develop a common vision and mission among sex worker-led organisations across Uganda. It creates safe spaces where sex workers can convene in a country with high levels of violence against sex workers and LGBTQ people. UNESO maps sex worker organisations in rural areas and provides leadership, fundraising, and financial management training for sex workers. By arranging meetings with government officials, UNESO works to ensure national policies align with the UN campaign to “Leave No One Behind”. Learn more
